So, it’s early in the morning, my back is in total agony, I have screaming allergies and I am in the middle of industrial theatre hell. But I am happy. Purely unadulteratedly happy. My back is sore because Big Friendly and I slept on a blow-up mattress on the lounge floor. Big Friendly’s sister is here with her 3 year old sun and one year old moon boys asleep in the main bedroom. In our spare bedroom sleeps our pregnant Durban sister-in-law. The house is a zoo! But I have the day off and family to spend it with.
Last night, while the sun and moon were bathing, the sun looked into the mirror, saw me and asked, “What you thinking?” I nearly passed out. A three year old. “What you thinking?” ! Then, before they went to sleep, I had to carry the sun back to the bathroom. I had to carry him so we didn’t get his nice clean feet dirty! We had to go so he could check that nobody had moved ‘the beautiful soap’ that he had left on the side of the bath. Comforted that it was still in the same place, he was able to say his goodnights.
Everybody is here for a visit. It’s the first time they have seen our house. And what makes it even more special is that it’s my birthday on Sunday. Like I said. I am happy.
