I shopped in Sea Point this morning. Checkers there have all the Pesach stuff. We are having an alternative Seder tomorrow night. My friend Rudy is rewriting the Hagada. I made my own Charoset today (the weirdest mixture of apples, pecan nuts, wine and syrup). It symbolises the mortar that the slaves of Egypt had to make (or something). And kneidlach in Not-chicken-soup. Tomorrow I’ll make potato kugel and Tzimmes and boil eggs to eat with salt water (the tears of the slaves). I guess you have to be Jewish. Big Friendly is threatening to make chocolate foreskins to hand out outside shul. Another year another bizarre tradition. Cool food though.
